Delbert Garner Obituary
Reidsville - Delbert Ray Garner, 79, passed away at his home on Monday, February 19, 2024.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Phil Surrett officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2024, and other times at the home. Burial will follow the service at Evergreen Memory Gardens.
Delbert was born in Rockingham to the late Joseph and Carrie Garner, He graduated from Bethany High School and later joined the Unites States Army where he served as a combat medic in Vietnam. After returning to Reidsville, he went to work as a Boilermaker for the Local 30. Delbert was a huge NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt fan. He enjoyed fishing and listening to anything by George Jones but most of all he loved his family.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughters, Mary Ann Garner and Deborah Marie Garner; siblings, Carlton "Bubba" Garner and Margaret "Flossie" Butner.
Delbert is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elsie "Sis" Wall Garner; daughter, Donna Garner; grandchildren, Christy Goodman (Josh), Amber Holder, Tom Kallam (Chelsea), Brandi Kallam, and Taylor Kallam; great-grandchildren, Dalton, Maysen, Annie, Maclin, Cash, and Cain as well as a large and loving group of extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ancora Compassionate Care at PO Box 281 Wentworth, NC 27357
