Delbert Leroy Howell, Jr. GOOSE CREEK - Delbert Leroy Howell, Jr., 68, of Goose Creek, SC, passed away at his resident with his wife, Debbie, at his side on February 21, 2023. He was born on July 11, 1954 in Portsmouth, VA, son of Delbert Leroy Howell, Sr. and Evelyn Brannon Howell. Delbert was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Debora L. Howell of Goose Creek, SC; mother, Evelyn B. Howell of Goose Creek, SC; daughter, Denise L. Patches (Derek) of Lakewood, WA; granddaughters, Tyler Patches and Allison Patches; brother, David L. Howell (Susan); sisters, E. Joanne Huckstep, Ellen Crosby (Stephen), Elaine Ackerman and many nieces and nephews. Delbert graduated Goose Creek high school and then enlisted into the Army in 1972 as an infantryman. While stationed in Fort Lewis, Washington, he met his wife, Debbie. He served at many duty stations during his time in the service. After leaving the service, they settled in Goose Creek, then later moved to Washington State to be close to their daughter, Denise (Derek) and granddaughters. They recently moved back to Goose Creek. Del loved to garden, fish, play pool, shoot darts, watch football games and most of all, spend time with his granddaughters. There will be a Celebration of Life at his home on March 25, 2023 at 1pm.
