Delfin "Papadu" Yan

Delfin Obal Yan of Sacramento, California, passed away peacefully at home on November 16, 2025, at the age of 81. He was a loving husband, brother, father, and grandfather, and his presence will be deeply missed.

Delfin was born in Labo, Camarines Norte in the Philippines. He studied electrical engineering. Then worked at Philippine Airlines for 25 years until he retired. He was a family man who raised three daughters and three sons with his wife Teresita. He moved to Los Angeles, California with his family and worked at Xerox Company for 10 years before retiring.

Delfin loved traveling with his family and enjoyed flying, road trips, and camping. He enjoyed nature trips at Yosemite, Crater Lake, Grand Canyon, Avenue of the Giants, and Sequoia National Park. He and his wife, Teresita, renewed their vows at their 40th wedding anniversary in Kauai. Family and relatives call him "Papadu" as an endearment.

Delfin is survived by his wife Teresita, his daughters Jeanne, Onelia, and Yasmin married to Cesar, his sons Sherwin married to Jo-Marie, Jose married to Susan, and Oliver, and his beloved grandchildren Vincent, Amanda, Mathew, Ethan, and Sophia. He is also survived by his sisters, Aleli and Eden, and his brother Ramon.

A vigil will be held on Wednesday, December 9th from 5-8 pm at St Mary's Catholic Cemetery located at 6509 Fruitridge Rd in Sacramento. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 10th from 1-3:30 pm, followed by a reception.
