Delfina Villagran Gutierrez

Delfina was born on December 23, 1926 and passed away on Friday, January 11, 2013. Delfina was a resident of Los Angeles, California. After an extended illness, Delfina went into the loving arms of God on January 11, 2013. Delfina was born to Susano and Teofila Villagran in El Paso, Texas on December 23, 1926. She grew up in El Paso with 5 sisters and 3 brothers, met her husband Manuel Blasé Gutierrez and married in 1948. They moved to Los Angeles in 1955 with their son, Oscar. They had two other children, Laura and Richard and raised their family together in Los Angeles. They settled in Glassell Park in 1969. In 1970, Delfina returned to the workforce at Occidental College, Food Service Department and retired in 1990. Having worked in the "Cooler", she is remembered fondly as "Del" by students, faculty, and staff. Delfina enjoyed her retirement traveling, gardening, and spoiling her children. Delfina married 41 years, lost her husband, Manuel in 1989. Delfina is lovingly remembered by her children Oscar, Laura, and Richard. Along with her sisters, Dolores Guerra, Aurora Cosio, brother in-law, Apolinar Gutierrez and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. She was a loving caring woman who always had a wonderful smile. She will be missed greatly by all.
