Delia is my mother-in-law and one the strongest ladies I know. She always did all the cooking for the family and she was very good at it too. I loved her beans, rice, and chili, hand made tortillas. She would BBQ this delicious steak for us every Easter for many years. Her menudo and chili rellenos were at the top of my favorite list. She was so funny and always made me laugh, she loved her Mexican music and we both were Vicente Fernandez fans so it was always a great time when she played one of his songs or it popped up on the radio station 1410AM her favorite station. Delia would always tell me stories about when she was growing up in Mexico. Delia was a good mother, grandmother, devoted wife and friend. She was a beautiful humble giving person, and hardworking in every aspect of her life. Whenever me and Joe would go visit we never returned home empty handed she always sent us some sort of care package to take home and not just us but to all the family. She had everything set out and packed like this is for Pepito, this is for Pancha and this for Rebecca. Delia had this big huge jar collection that I will never forget she put those jars to good use by filling them with her chile or some type of food like menudo or her guava jam or grapefruit juice. She was so sweet and she would tell Joe but bring it back and he would wash the jar and bring it back for next time. Also I will always remember that Delia had 101 uses for white vinegar. Yes Delia because of you our home is very well stocked with white vinegar, and we will always think of you when we use it. She LOVED her dogs and spoiled them and was so happy when she was working in her yard. I have so many great memories about you Delia too many to write but I was blessed to have you in my life for the last 45 years and to be called your daughter in-law.
Te amo Delia con todo me corazon -que descanse en paz y esperanos porque un dia vamos a llegar tambien - Love Denise

My most cherished memory of Delia Hernandez were the times I visited her with her daughter Frances and walking through her yard admiring her fruit trees and tasting the delicious sweet grapefruits fresh off the tree. Then she would proudly show me a variety of plants and flowers in her garden. The flowers were vibrant with a variety of hues. My favorite flowers that she cultivated were the large brilliant Dalias. Their names so alike to Delia. And just like the flowers, Delia was also colorful with her funny jokes or Spanish sayings. When she laughed her eyes glistened with brilliance. Delia was an amazing women gardening, but also enjoying cooking. She made the best salsa and tortillas! I will miss "Mamacita" yet I know she is where she wanted to be with the love of her life, Joe, her husband in Heaven.

My sincerest condolences to Frances, Becca, Joe and all the grandchildren.
