Della Griffin Obituary
Della Reese Griffin was born on August 30, 1969, to the late Willie Credle and Queen E. Griffin in Belhaven, NC. She peacefully passed away on January 23, 2025.
Della graduated from John A. Wilkinson High School in 1987 and then pursued her nursing degree at Beaufort Community College.
Throughout her career, Della worked at Cox Direct in Washington, NC, Autumn Field Rest Home, and Coastal Home Care Agency in Belhaven, NC. She was dedicated to her work and excelled in her profession. Della cherished her family and friends, enjoyed fishing, and loved spending time with those close to her.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Queen Griffin; father, Willie Credle; brother, Markey Griffin Jr.; and sisters, Janet Griffin and Mahalia Griffin.
Della is survived by her sister, Reba Griffin of Belhaven, NC; three brothers, Phillip Smith of Greenville, NC, Willie Smith (Sakinah) of Atlanta, GA, and Thomas Griffin of Bronx, NY; three nieces, Chinara Millner (Earl) of Belhaven, NC, and Cheresse and Cherelle Smith of Bronx, NY; and three nephews, Darrious Davis of Belhaven, NC, Mitchell Clark (Pooh) of Washington, NC, and Tyron Fox of Bronx, NY. She also leaves behind 13 great-grandnieces, three great-nephews, and two goddaughters. Special mentions include her niece Chinara Millner, three great-nieces Keandra Griffin, Chiveah Millner, and Ekaylia Millner, one great-nephew Elonta Millner, and a great-great-nephew on the way, Bacari Blango.
Della is also survived by five aunts: Beulah Hogan Keys of Belhaven, NC, Lutisha Hogan Bonner of Belhaven, NC, Thelma Hogan Marville of Midlothian, VA, Fannie Anderson of Brooklyn, NY, and Rachel Bank of Belhaven, NC; and four uncles: William (Shirley) Hogan of Jamaica, NY, Connie Lee Simmons of Halifax, NC, Bernie (Barbara) Simmons of Alexandria, VA, and Dallas Peartree of Belhaven, NC. Additionally, she is remembered by a host of many more aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, including her devoted friend Katrina Holloway, close friend Stephine Chadwick, childhood friend Chester Spencer, and special client Ms. Barbara Oden.
