William Coltrain Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Smoky Mountain Cremations and Funeral Service on Mar. 2, 2026.
William "Eddie" Edward Coltrain, 80, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026.

Born in Williamston, North Carolina, Eddie was a man of strong faith, steady character, and deep love for his family. He spent many years working as a skilled carpenter, taking great pride in his work and the homes and structures he helped build.

At the age of 35, he joined the United States Army, serving his country with honor. Later, at 45, he answered a higher calling and became a Southern Baptist minister. For many years, he faithfully preached the Gospel, offered guidance and encouragement, and served his congregation with compassion and dedication.

Eddie enjoyed traveling and especially loved fishing. He found peace on the water and treasured the time spent outdoors and with those he loved.

He is survived by his daughters, Sylvia Howe (TD) and Nina Yontz; his grandchildren, Bryan Pender (Kali), Jessica Pender, TD Howe V, and Kirk Decker (Kayla); his great-grandchildren, Juniper Pender and Marty Decker; his brother, David Coltrain (Kathy); and several nieces.

He will be remembered for his unwavering faith, servant's heart, and the love he shared with his family and community. His life leaves a lasting legacy of devotion, service, and strength.

Smoky Mountain Cremations and Funeral Service of Maggie Valley is caring for the family and the online register is available at www.smokymountaincremations.com.
