Della Picard Obituary
Cecilia - Della J. Picard, 74 and a resident of Cecilia, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at The Carpenter House in Lafayette.
Della was born on October 6, 1948, and leaves behind a trail of cherished memories that will forever be etched in our hearts.
After dedicating most of her life to caring for her family, Della embarked on a new journey as a bus aid for the St. Martin Parish School Board. In this role, she touched the lives of countless children who were fortunate enough to cross paths with her.
Della found joy in many things, but she especially loved trips to the casino and the countless times she cooked for her family. She and her husband John built a beautiful life together over the past 56 years. Della was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, John H. Picard of Cecilia; daughter, Tammy Champagne of Cecilia; sons, Scott Picard of Cecilia and Robley Picard (Christy) of Breaux Bridge; grandchildren, Amberly Champagne and Kaitlyn Picard, both of Breaux Bridge; sisters, Paula Melancon (Francis) of Cecilia, Dorothy Sibille (Ray) of Sunset, and Sheila Day (Pat) of Kentucky; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul Johnson and Irene Savoy Johnson; and her sister, Barbara Duplechein.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Della Picard's name to The Carpenter House Hospice Center, 923 W. Pinhook Rd., Lafayette, LA 70503.
