Mulhane Home For Funerals - MillburyMILLBURY - Gilbert Picard, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday February 6th at home surrounded by his family.
Gil leaves his son, Robert J. and his wife Helen Picard of Millbury; six grandchildren, Heidi DeVries (Matt), Briana Flanagan (Paul), Leighann Burns (Mason), Robert Picard Jr. (Nicole), Gilbert Picard, Amy Qualey (Joe); four great grandchildren, Jeremiah and Briella DeVries, Mason and Madeline Burns; brothers Roger Picard and his wife Sue, Robert Picard, and Rodney Mickunas. He is predeceased by his wife Mary of 49 years in 2007, his parents Romeo and Rose Picard, his brother Romeo “Butch” Picard, and many other loving relatives and companion April Bickel.
Gil was born in Cranston, RI and moved to Millbury when he was 9 years old. He served in the United States Navy for 6 years from 1957-1963. He was employed at Clearview Golf Course, Assumption College and worked for the Millbury Schools in maintenance, and driving bus. He retired in 2002.
Gil enjoyed traveling! Some of his favorite places included Las Vegas, Atlantic City, San Diego, Honolulu, Branson, and Newport. He loved playing cards, going to the casino, latch hooking, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles and watching game shows.
Family and friends will honor and remember Gil’s life by gathering for a time of visitation from 8:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14th in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N Main Street, Millbury.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on the same day at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton Street, Worcester with burial to follow in Central Cemetery, Millbury.
