Delmar Nessa Obituary
He was born to parents Nels and Anna (Harestad) Nessa on November 23, 1930 in Garden City, Iowa. He graduated from High School in 1949 and was drafted into the U.S. Army on June 6, 1953. After training he served in Germany for 18 months. Following his military service, he and his brother "Mick" owned and operated Nessa Grocery and Locker in Garden City. He was also a US Postmaster in Garden City and Randall, Iowa.
After he received Christ as his Savior, he faithfully served the Lord as Deacon, Trustee, Sunday School Teacher and Youth Leader at Stavanger Lutheran Church.
On May 23rd 1953 he married Janet Laidley. Duke and Janet were blessed with four children Karen (Bob) Stensland of Radcliffe, Iowa, Kevin (Kim) Nessa of Garden City, Iowa, Kim (Stan) Renaud of Eldora, Iowa and Kent (Patty) Nessa of Huxley, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Nessa, their four children and spouses, 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, one sister-in-law Marge Nessa, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Meline, Arlon and Norman "Mick" and one sister Olive Herbrechtsmeier.
