Mass of Christian Burial for Delores Likewise will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church with Father Bryce Lungren officiating; interment to follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Monday June 17, 2024 at Gillette Memorial Chapel. Early in the morning on June twelfth of 2024, Delores (Dee) Katherine Likewise beloved mother of three sons and grandmother of seven was called to heaven and passed peacefully while surrounded by loved ones. Her strength for family and faith in the church left a void that cannot be replaced. Delores was born on July 31, 1944, in De Smet, South Dakota to Earl and Clara Cavanaugh. She was raised in De Smet until visiting her sister in Gillette, Wyoming in 1962 where she met Larry and was married in January 1963, and began her longstanding family life. Delores enjoyed holiday gatherings and traveling to see family and her grandchildren. She loved reading, baking, and spending time with family and friends. Delores touched many lives in generous ways, often leading to lifelong friendships. Over the course of several years, she was a mother to over fifty foster children providing love and strength during difficult times in their lives. She retired from Wyodak Coal Mine where she spent 28 years working in various positions. Many people have very fond memories of her personally shopping to pick out a personalized Christmas present for each child attending the company Christmas party.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Alice, and Maragret; and brother, Donald.
She is survived by her husband Larry; three children Larry, Jerry, and Randy; seven grandchildren, Eric, Nicole, Nate, Stephen, Krista, Derick, and Damon and seven great grandchildren, Kaiden, Pru, Zayde, Carson, Brexlie, Carter, and Luna; brother, Bernard, and sister, Marylou.
She was an inspiration to all and displayed an unmatched faith and humility. She dedicated her life to putting everyone’s needs ahead of her own.
