Delores Thorlene Peterson

     The daughter of Louis and Mary (Breon) Arndt was born on August 8, 1926 on a farm near Fonda, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Fonda and the Knoke area. She graduated from Fonda high school in 1943. She moved with her parents to first a farm near Marathon and then an acreage near Ayrshire. June 4, 1955 she married Mervin Peterson and moved to Morris, Illinois. Delores and Mervin had five children. In 1966 they moved to Milford, Iowa where they owned a laundromat and joined First Lutheran Church. She was head of the visitation there for the church. They moved to Spencer in 1994 where she became a member of First English Lutheran Church.

     Delores once said that she was born with a deck of cards in one hand and a fishing pole in the other. She was talented  at crocheting, baking, and puzzles. She had a green thumb for gardening vegetables and flowers.

     Left to cherish memories of Delores are her children Sheryl Fitzpatrick, Bonnie Hunefeld, Mark (Tami) Peterson; her grandchildren Bryce Fitzpatrick, Tara (Joshua) Brueggeman, Kyle (Alicia) Fitzpatrick, Kayla (Jordan) Olson, Cassandra Peterson; her great-grand children Cullen, Gabriel, Kian and Teagan Fitzpatrick, Cecelia and Amelia Olson, Adara Peterson, Gracey and Briella Reich, Theo Fitzpatrick and Joseph Brueggeman.

     Delores was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers and sister-in-law Louie (Lois) Arndt, Les (Eileen) Arndt, sister Darlene Delores, her children Glen and Sandy, her son-in-law Randy Hunefeld, and her grandson Scott Hunefeld.
