Newfane – Delores A. Richards, 86, passed away peacefully with her daughter, Bonita, by her side. She was born in Catskill, New York, to the late Ernest and Gladys (Roberts) Warner. Delores graduated from the Ellis Island School of Nursing and earned her Registered Nurse license, beginning a career she took great pride in.
She spent several years in Crystal River, Florida, where she worked at Seven Rivers Hospital. In her free time, Delores loved quilting, was an avid reader, and never missed a NASCAR race or a good baseball game. In 2019, she moved to Newfane to enjoy more time with Bonita.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Richards, her brothers Ernest and Kenneth Warner, and her grandson Brian Eckerson.
Delores is survived by her daughter Bonita (Wayne) Howes Jr.; grandson Jeffrey (Mayra) Reeson Jr., and great-grandson Ryland Reeson; son Edward R. Eckerson; grandson Michael Eckerson and great-grandchildren Antonio Conte and Giovanna Eckerson; step-sons Roy and Karl Richards; her sister Shirley (Rossie) Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, November 25, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Sherrie Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main Street, Gasport. Her funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 10:30am. Interment will be in Western New York National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Association of American Veterans.
