DeLories Audrice Greene, affectionately known as “Ms. Dee”, passed away on November 10, 2025, at Ollie Steele Burden Manor Nursing Home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Born on June 16, 1940, in New Orleans, she became a New Yorker by proxy, having lived and worked there over 30 years.

As an educator, she taught advanced mathematics to college bound students. Ms. Dee graduated with honors from Iberville High School (1957) and Southern University, Baton Rouge. She continued her studies at the University of New York, pursuing advanced studies and earning commendations. 

Throughout her life, she inspired others with her intellect, generosity and vibrant spirit. She sought to satisfy her inquisitive nature by exploring the world through reading, traveling and aspiring for ”the best” In 1986, Ms. Dee joined the Hebrew Israelite Congregation in Brooklyn, NY under the local leadership of Elder Moses Farrar (Temple Beth El [House of God] headquartered in Suffolk, VA). She faithfully honored Passover when there and will be missed by that community. 

At her workplace in Manhattan during 9/11, Ms. Dee was detained from entering her building in the twin towers that day due to the bombing. She is a 9/11 and breast cancer survivor since that event. Ms. Dee’s philanthropic gestures included faithful donations to multiple charities and causes throughout her life. She believed in the power of the vote and was a faithful and dedicated voter, upholding the democratic process. 

Ms. Dee’s talents were as diverse as her passions and accomplishments. She was an avid collector of art, music, precious coins and memorabilia. She owned a diverse library, was a seamstress and a lover of Broadway, (NBA) Basketball, completing advanced puzzles and traveling the world with friends. Her enthusiasm, uniqueness, and kindness will long be remembered by all who knew her. 

She is survived by her beloved nieces and nephews: Roland Christophe, Jr., of Plaquemine, LA, Aristelle Thomas III of Melville, LA., Arthur J. Jackson of Opelousas, LA, Audrey DeLories Vaughns, Lillian M. Jackson Carey, Paulette Jackson, Mary Francis Jackson and Theresa Williams of Melville, LA, who cherished her deeply. 

She is preceded in death by her father (whom she adored) and mother, Ms. Sylvia Mae Jackson, two brothers, John Fred of New Orleans, LA and Joseph LeBlanc of Plaquemine, LA, her sister Janie Mae Jackson, Melville, LA. and her husband, Mr. Edward Hobby of New York. 

A sincere and heartfelt thank-you is extended to the Camelia Trace community, the staff of Ollie Steele Burden Manor Nursing Home, the Baton Rouge Clinic and the Claiborne of Baton Rouge. Special appreciation is offered to her devoted friends Bonnie Butler Walker, Nikeya Walker, Tianya Lopez and Sue Meloy. 

The memorial commemorating her life will be held at a later date at the Greenoaks Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA. The date will be posted on the website for Church Funeral Services & Crematory.
