Deloris Heavrin Obituary

Deloris "Dee" Heavrin, 70, of Danbury, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, after many years of health complications.

Born and raised in New Albany, Indiana, Dee was part of a large family. She had two older brothers and four younger sisters. Dee always embraced her role as a protective, nurturing, and loving presence in her family. Her life was marked by deep devotion to her cherished family and friends.

Dee proudly served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Hawaii. She traveled as a vocalist in bands throughout the mid 70s to early 80s. She especially was proud of singing with the Bobby Lanz band in Louisville, KY. In 1980, Dee moved to Danbury, CT and became a real estate agent and worked for Home Equity relocation as a relocation specialist until her retirement. She also continued her love of singing as a talented entertainer and a cherished member of Connecticut's #1 doowop groups 'In Harmony' and 'Harmony Street', known as 'the blond in the middle', which brought joy to countless audiences throughout the tristate area.

A woman of many talents and fierce passions, Dee had a vibrant love for gardening. Her yard in Danbury was a local gem-full of blooming flowers that she lovingly shared with neighbors and visitors alike. Despite her ongoing battle with the local groundhog population, whom she humanely trapped and released, Dee took immense pride in her garden, which was her heaven on Earth. It was there, on her beloved back porch, that she spent her favorite moments-watching birds, talking to God, and soaking in the beauty of the world around her.

In her earlier years, Dee was also a competitive bodybuilder and once held the title of lightweight champion in Connecticut-an accomplishment she met with the same determination and spirit that defined her entire life.

For 48 beautiful years, Dee shared her life with her dearest friend and companion, Robin Miller. Together, they created a life full of friendship, music, love, laughter, and unforgettable adventures. Their stories were legendary among friends and family, told and retold with warmth and humor.

Though health challenges often kept her from attending in person, Dee's faith was unwavering. She deeply loved Jesus and her church family, often singing hymns and praying while surrounded by the peace of her garden.

Dee was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel L. Heavrin and Lula Bell Burns; her siblings Bobby Wright, Ray Wright (Donna), Susie Futter, and Jeannie Clark (Marty); brother-in-law Dee Shelton, Sr., nephew Dee Shelton, Jr., and her beloved niece, Phoenix Weigleb.

She is survived by her devoted sisters, Sherry Bledsoe (Jim), and Cindy Shelton, as well as a wide circle of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will carry forward her legacy of love, strength, and joy.

Dee leaves behind a world made better by her presence-a life lived with determination, humor, grace, and deep compassion. She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.

Visitation will be held at Walnut Hill Community Church, 156 Walnut Hill Rd. Bethel Connecticut, on Friday September 5th from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. With service to follow at 2:00.
