Deloris A. Kyes

Deloris A. Kyes, 87, of Central City, died on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at The Oaks in Central City. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Central City with Pastor Francis Kinyua officiating. Interment will be held at the Central City Cemetery.

Deloris was born on August 4, 1937 in Central City, the eldest of 10 children to John Brondel and Esther Harrington Brondel. Deloris spent her school years in Central City and graduated in 1955. After graduation she worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for several years.
She married Robert Kyes on July 14, 1957 and together had three children: Michael, Karla, and Gary. She was a faithful member of Central City United Methodist Church for over 60 years where she helped with Sunday School, Bible School, and helped coordinate and serve funeral lunches for many years. She was a member of Arbor Lodge Chapter 200 Order of Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron and secretary.
Bob and Deloris spent years as the "old fart and witchiepoo" putting together a Halloween pumpkin patch that attracted hundreds of children. Deloris also loved embroidery, writing letters and cards, and walking. Deloris was always happy and enjoyed visiting with family and friends, new and old. After moving to Cottonwood Estates in 2012, she was named the Nebraska Assisted Living resident of the year. She welcomed new residents and made sure everyone had their newspapers every day.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Kyes; sisters Emma Senkbile and Kathryn Price; and brothers David Brondel, and Marvin Brondel.
Deloris is survived by children, Michael of Modesto CA, Karla (Ermel) of Omaha NE, and Gary (Beth) of Omaha NE; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Ella Lachenbruch, Marlene and Mike Schafer; brothers, Stan and Ann Brondel, Ray Brondel, and Dale Brondel; brother-in-law Ed and Marilyn Kyes; sisters-in-law Joan Moyer, and MaryAnn Kyes. and many, many nieces and nephews.
