Deloyce “Dee” June Novak, a beloved member of her community, passed away on November 1, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on June 27, 1933, in Alexandria, Minnesota, Dee’s life was characterized by her unwavering passion for art, her dedication to education, and her deep affection for her family and pets.
Dee’s educational path began in Alexandria, where she laid the foundations for her artistic talents. She further pursued her passion for creativity by obtaining an Associates degree in art from Morris, Minnesota. This education served as a stepping stone for her career, during which she worked as a remedial reading teacher's aid in Brandon, Minnesota. Her patience and nurturing spirit left an indelible mark on the children she helped, guiding them toward literacy and self-confidence.
After many fulfilling years in education, Dee retired early to embrace her artistic calling fully. She became known for her beautiful paintings and drawings, showcasing her talent at various flea markets. Her love for art was only matched by her enthusiasm for celebrating the holidays, with Christmas holding a special place in her heart.
Dee’s interests extended beyond art; she adored her cats and had a particular fondness for flowers, often surrounding herself with the beauty of nature. These hobbies enriched her life and brought joy to those around her.
She is survived by her loving children, Kathryn (Steve Hendrickson) Zimmerman, Lori (Austin) Lehn, Thomas (Beverly) Torstenson, and Sharon (Kevin) Sather, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will cherish her memory.
Dee was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Frances Affeldt, Deloyce is also preceded in death by her husband, Johnney L Novak and siblings, Roger Affeldt, Marlin (Bud) Affeldt, Delette (Joey) Patrick, Wanda Braaten, Ardys Pantlin, and Maedeen (Deenie) Jobe.
Her legacy is one of love, creativity, and dedication to family and community. Deloyce June Novak will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will continue to inspire those she touched.
A private burial service will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery and a celebration of life will be scheduled for later date.
