Delton "Bud" Bratvold---94, Minot, died Friday, August 9, 2024 in a Minot nursing home.
Delton "Bud" Bratvold was born in Maddock, ND on October 14, 1929 the son of Joseph and Clara (Lindgron) Bratvold. He was raised and educated in Maddock ND, graduating from Maddock High School in 1947.
In October 1951, Bud was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving in the Second Infantry Division, 9th Regiment, 3rd Battalion in Korea. He earned the rank of Corporal during his enlistment and was honorably discharged on July 26, 1953 from Ft. Lewis, WA.
On September 6, 1953, he was united in marriage to Mardeth Irene Spraggins in Berthold, ND. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Maddock for three years working for John Deere, Chrysler and Desoto dealer before moving to Minot where he worked for Westlie Motors for 11 years. In 1967, he went to work for Northern States Power Company and worked there until retirement in 1992.
Bud will forever be remembered for his sense of humor, hard work, amazing craftsmanship and willingness to help everyone that was fortunate enough to know him. His family, friends and (of course) his cats were always a source of great happiness for him.
He was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church until its closure, the American Legion, VFW, and 6 Iron.
Bud is survived by:
Children: Jeffrey (Judith) Bratvold; Sheila (Steve) Holden; Three grandchildren: Daniel (Kayla) Andersen, Nicholas (Samantha) Holden, Nathan (Danielle) Holden; Great-grandchildren: Easton Andersen, Hayden Andersen, Caden Weyrauch, Ella Holden, and Thomas Duncan; Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Neva (William) Zimmerman, and his wife Mardeth who died October 29, 2005.
Visitation: Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 4 pm until 6 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot
Funeral Service: Friday, August 16, 2024 at 11 am at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot
Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot
