Obituary published on Legacy.com by Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors on Feb. 6, 2026.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Demarious "Leone" Allison Griffis on Thursday, February 5, 2026. However, we rejoice in knowing that because she accepted Christ as a young girl, now she is eternally in the presence of Jesus Christ.
Leone was born on June 22, 1945, in
Mobile, Alabama, to Charles Leon Allison and Julia Demarious Adams Allison. They later moved to Hattiesburg, Mississippi; Minden, Louisiana and Hilliard, Florida. She worked alongside her daddy, brothers and sisters in the family restaurants, "The Stateline Drive-in" and "The Red Pig." She became a great cook and loved making everyone's favorite dishes and comfort meals.
Leone had a strong work ethic throughout her life, working at Container Corporation for many years before focusing on her favorite role as "Nana" to many biological and chosen grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Many of them credit Nana with telling them about Jesus, teaching them special songs, and how to fish and drive. She enjoyed watching sports on television, reading cookbooks, hosting large family reunions and shopping for gifts for others. She and her oldest daughter, Lisa, became more like best friends, talking to each other more than ten times a day, every day.
Leone was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Leo; son, Steven Allison; grandsons, David Parker and Dalton Feuerborn; sisters, June DiPolito and Pam Allison Todd; brother, Hud Allison; son-in-law, Buddy Hall and brother-in-law, Tom Adcock. She is survived by two daughters, Lisa Hall and Carla Davis (Michael); grandchildren, Allison, Graison and Ellis Davis; and great-grandchildren, Daton Parker and Kami Feuerborn. Also remaining to cherish her memory are sisters, Pat Adcock, Jane Allison and Linda Hubert; brothers, Bobby (Sherri) Migues, Jerry (Annette) Allison and Mike (Christy) Allison; brother-in-law, Sam DiPolito; treasured niece, Gina DiPolito and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Leone's big heart fostered many friendships wherever God planted her. Leone will be sorely missed but leaves many fond memories in the hearts of her loved ones.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no public memorial service. Leone asked instead that those who loved her remember the joyful moments and cherish the memories they shared with her. As a member of the First Assembly of God in Fernandina for many years, Leone was a devoted believer in the Lord and a living example of Christ's love and faithfulness to everyone around her. Her enduring wish was that all remain faithful to the Lord and take good care of one another. The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date.
