DeMaris Jean Cole

DeMaris J. Cole, age 73, of Bellingham went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025 in Bellingham at the Whatcom Hospice House. She was born May 11, 1952 in Vancouver, Washington to parents James and Frances (Scholtaubers) Myles. DeMaris graduated from Fort Vancouver High School with the Class of 1970 in Vancouver, Washington. She went on to further her education by attending the University of Washington and Western Washington University receiving her Master’s Degree in teaching. DeMaris taught for many years in the Ferndale School District. She was very adventurous, she loved to hike, bike, sailing, and she also obtained her private pilot license and in her leisure time DeMaris loved to sew and do needle point. She met the love of her life Kerry Gwinner in 2016 and they were married September 12, 2019 in Ferndale, Washington. She attended Christ the King Community Church in Bellingham where she served her Lord faithfully. DeMaris is survived by her husband Kerry; sister Margo (Paul) Graf; numerous nieces and nephews including Carol Graf and other relatives. A graveside Service will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025, at Greenacres Cemetery in Ferndale with Chaplain Eddy Harrod officiating.
