Demetrice Lenora "Meka" Brumsey

Demetrice Lenora Brumsey passed away unexpectedly on November 19th 2025 surrounded by her loving family in Southside Hospital in Bayshore, NY following a brief illness. "Meka" as she was affectionately known by family and so many others throughout the community. She was born January 2nd 1973 to her loving parents John & Classie Kelly in Jesup, GA.
Later in her adolescent years (10 yrs old) she moved to Riverhead, NY with her mother and siblings where she was raised in the Church of Christ. She attended Riverhead School District, where she participated in ROTC and attended BOCES-HB Ward Technical Center majoring in Criminal Law and VICA.
In 1989 she met the love of her life,Ronnie Brumsey. She then furthered her education into nursing as a CNA. She worked at Southampton NY Hospital for 3 years. Meka and Ronnie got happily married on May 7th, 1997 and they started a family and had 3 children and one beautiful granddaughter.
Meka had many gifts to share none other than the love she had for her family and friends. She was always helping anyone in need and spent her time volunteering at her church. She enjoyed cracking jokes and mimicking some of her family. She had a passion for writing and reading in her free time. Meka was also an avid traveler and loved going to family reunions and visiting her kids out of state. When it came to her family, she loved HARD and always was there to help in any way she could. Her faith in God was strong to the end.
Meka leaves behind to cherish her loving memory her husband, Ronnie Brumsey of Ridge, NY, her son Ronnie (Takyra) Brumsey Jr. of Center Moriches, NY, Her daughter Tyleah (Essow) Kedelina of Atlanta, GA, Marcus (Teyana) Brumsey of Bayshore, NY, granddaughter Brielle A'Mora Brumsey, her stepdaughter Shanea Brumsey, her step-graddaughter, Gianna Jackson, grandson in law Nigel Bloodworth, and a nephew she called her own Tremaine (Tiffany) Kelly, Brother in-law Curtis Brumsey of St.Lousi, MO, brother in-law (deceased George Brumsey), Sister in-law Daphne of Southampton, NY, brother in law (deceased Rodney Brumsey), sister in law Ronnette Brumsey of Jonesboro, GA.
Her parents John & Classie Kelly of Hinesville, GA, her siblings Jacqueline (James) Reddish of Jesup, GA, Marvetta Boyd of Hinesville, GA, Shamele (deceased Virgil) Horsley of Hinesville, GA, Eva Kelly of Coram, NY, her brothers Stanford (Tawana) Boyd, John Kelly Jr. of Hinesville, GA and host of nieces, nephews, aunts,uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be held in Riverhead, NY on November 29th 2025 at 10am with Reverend Claduius Davis of The Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow at Southampton Cemetery at 2pm.
