Dena Mae Luis

Dena Mae Luis, 91, passed away on January 14, 2026, in Hanford, California. She was born on September 24, 1933, in Bakersfield, California, to Turman and Opal McDaniel.

Funeral services will be held on February 13, 2026, at 11:00am St. Peter's Prince of Apostles located at 870 N. Lemoore Ave, Lemoore, CA 93245.

Dena was sweet and kindhearted with a strong will that carried her through life. Her family was her focus in life, raising 4 boys wasn't always easy but she made it look that way. She was loyal to those she loved and left a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to know her.

Dena loved quilting and spent many summers quilting with her sister Geneva. She was an avid Dodger's fan and could be found watching the games with her son Dennis and Granddaughter Delanie, wearing her sports gear. She found joy in her gardening whether it was vegetables or her beloved roses. She was often seen with her pet companion Pickles wherever she went.

Dena was preceded in death by her husband Alvin Luis (1979), her son David Luis, her brother Alvin McDaniel, and her sister Geneva Carmichael (2025) and parents.

She is survived by her children Douglas Luis, Dwight Luis, Dennis (Krista) Luis. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Delanie (Shawna) Luis, Devon Luis, Rocky Luis, Zack Luis, as well as her cherished great-grandson Logan. She is also survived by her siblings, Alfred McDaniel, Karen Wann.
