It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Denis E (Denny) Sachs on Friday January 2, 2026. He died peacefully at home with his family by his side.

Denis was born in Worcester on August 10, 1943 to Hilda (Aronovitz) and Seymour Sachs. He enlisted in the U.S Marines, where he proudly served his country in Vietnam. He worked at General Motors and later became one of the owners of Yellow Cab in Worcester where his happiest days were driving his cab through the streets of Worcester.

Denis is survived by his wife, Barbara (Copper) Brissette; his son, David, a retired Worcester Firefighter, and his wife Susan; daughter Donna, a Worcester Police Lieutenant, and her wife Dori Vecchio; his grandchildren, Cameron and Taylor Sachs, Alexis Brissette, and Giana Vecchio. His brother, Steven of Florida and sister, Beth Sachs of Auburn, and brother-in-law, Stephen Copper and sister-in-law, Judy Colecchi.

In addition, his loving nieces and nephews who were by his side, and many others present in spirit. He also leaves his “Best Bud” Gabriel.

In addition, he is survived by daughter Cindy Steiger and Sandra St Laurent and grandchildren Matthew, Adam, Joshua, Brian and Nicole.

Denis was a loyal sports fan and was a 30-year season ticket holder for the N.E Patriots at home and traveling to their games throughout the country with his son and grandson. He was a 40-year member of the YMCA and continues to have a group of close supportive friends who shared his Y days.

Denis’ favorite days were spent on the beach at his home in Florida and driving his pontoon boat on Webster Lake. He was happiest when surrounded by his family and friends.

Family would like to thank his caregivers at Dana Farber Chestnut Hill, his nurse practitioner, Lisa Kim, his oncologist Dr. Charlene Mantia and his many infusion nurses notably Maressa Waber and special volunteer Ann. In addition to their medical expertise, they provided genuine love, care and support to Denis.

Denis was a man of honor, loyal to his country, family and friends. He will be deeply missed by those who loved him and those who called him a friend.
