Denise Lee Miller Cook, age 68, of Edwardsville, died before Christmas. The Lord called her Home to be with Him in Heaven to celebrate His Holy Birth.

She was born, August 11, 1956, in Alton, to Lester and Betty (Rutz) Miller. She married Mark Allen Cook on July 17, 1976, at First Baptist Church in Edwardsville. She lost her beloved Mark in 2016.

She is survived by her sister, Debra (Ron) Slemer, of Edwardsville; nieces: Lindsey (Tony) Skenderi of Glen Carbon, Kate (Jacob) Pruemer of Teutopolis, Carin (Jim) Bock of Pawnee, Christy (Eric) Walker of Greenville, and Marci Davis of Glen Carbon; great nephews and nieces: Ashton, Vincent, John, Emma, Kristofer, Joshua, Cecilia, Michael, Genevieve, James, Clara, Jimmy, Maria, Augustine, Sophia, and Gianna; and many dear cousins and friends especially Darlene Holder of Edwardsville and Tim Alexander of Arnold, MO.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her mother-in-law Doris (Albert) Cassens, her father-in-law Charles (Wilma) Cook; and sisters-in-law Joyce Frain and Marcia Davis.

She graduated with the EHS Class of 1974 and received an accounting degree from SIUE. She worked as a CPA for Sheffel and later as an office manager for Hepler Broom. She ended her career early to enjoy time with Mark and help ease his struggle with kidney disease. She was a very loving wife, sister, aunt, and a friend to everyone she met.

Visitation will be from 9:30 am to 11:00 pm Friday, January 17, at Saksa Mateer Funeral Home in Edwardsville. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Glen Carbon. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be made to the Mark Cook Kidney Transplant Fund c/o Barnes-Jewish Hospital Foundation.
