Ruby Cook Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lewis Funeral Home - San Antonio on Mar. 20, 2026.
Ruby Jean Cook the beloved daughter of the late Raful cook and Rutha Harper. Ruby was born January 1, 1946. She transitioned to her heavenly home of tranquil peace on March 12, 2026, at the age of 80 years in San Antonio TX.

Ruby received her public education from Asberry High School in Yoakum, Texas, where she was an active student and played basketball. She later pursued her passion for helping others by studying nursing in Yoakum Texas, and went on to earn her (LVN) certification from St. Phillips College in San Antonio, Texas.

Ruby dedicated many years of service working at rehabilitation unit at Audie Murphy Hospital where she faithfully cared for others until her retirement.

At early age, Ruby confessed Christ and was baptized by the late Reverend A.S. Green at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Edgar Texas. Her faith remained throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband James Wright; parents, Raful and Rutha Cook.

Ruby's memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her especially those left to treasure her well lived life.

She is survived by her brother Raful Cook Jr. and Family; also, a host of great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.

Special thanks to Debra and Rogers Reece for bringing Ruby into their family and providing her loving care.
