Denise E. Damelio passed away peacefully at UT Medical Center in Knoxville, TN, on Monday, July 29, 2024.
Born on December 26, 1961, in Phillipsburg, NJ, Denise was the third of four children born to Douglas and Kathleen (Judd) Damelio. Raised in NJ, the family later moved to W. Swanzey, NH, where Denise attended Monadnock Regional High School and graduated in 1980.
Denise was a woman of many talents and passions. Over the years, she worked at various businesses in Keene, NH; Dickinson, ND; and Knoxville, TN. She took great pride in her work and loved learning new things. Denise had a deep passion for reading and listening to audiobooks. An avid movie-goer, she often shared joyful experiences with her nephews, including sneaking Starburst and other treats into the theater during their regular summer visits. Her infectious smile and enthusiasm for storytelling always brightened the lives of those around her.
Denise's loving and caring nature was perhaps most evident in her devotion to animals. She had an innate ability to connect with her furry friends and never met a cat she didn't want to bring home. Her love for horses was equally profound, and she cherished the opportunity to ride and share the experience with friends and family. Her gentle spirit and hearty laugh are fondly remembered by her loved ones.
Denise is survived by her mother, Kathleen Judd Damelio of Farragut, TN; her sisters, Debra Damelio (Cathy Jay) of Peterborough, NH, and Diana (Steve) Stroud of Maricopa, AZ; and her nephews, Anthony (Lexi Snyder) Haynes of Dickinson, ND, Benjamin Haynes of Phoenix, AZ, Ethan (Zoe Buchhold) Haynes of Dickinson, ND, and Bronson Stroud of Beach, ND. She is also survived by a great-niece, Indie Snyder-Haynes.
She was preceded in death by her father, Douglas Damelio; her brother, L. Douglas Damelio; and her maternal and paternal grandparents. The family finds comfort in knowing Denise is reunited with her brother and father, as well as the many beloved pets she cherished over the years. In accordance with her wishes, Denise's ashes will be spread where horses roam, allowing her to run free with them forever.
