Denise Lee (Lee Tack Fun) 85, of San Mateo, California, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on August 14, 2025.
Denise was born on November 11, 1939, in China, to H Lee and S Lau. She moved to Hong Kong with her family at the age of 6. She was married to the late Willie Chan, with whom she built a loving and close-knit family. She is survived by 19 children and their spouses, and grandkids.
Denise dedicated over 25 years to education as an elementary school teacher at Hoi Sing Primary School in Hong Kong, where she was cherished by students and respected by her peers. In 1985, she courageously moved her entire family to the United States, where she later worked for the U.S. Postal Service until her retirement in 2003. She successfully raised five children and ensured each of them received a college education-a testament to her determination, strength, and deep commitment to her family's future.
In her retirement, Denise enjoyed playing mahjong, practicing tai chi with friends at the San Mateo Senior Center, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Over the past decade, she loved traveling with her family, making cherished memories on trips to Alaska, Vancouver, the Pacific Coast, Las Vegas, Mexico, Toronto, and Hong Kong. She took pride in hosting Chinese New Year celebrations, bringing the entire family together to share meals, laughter, and traditions. A passionate basketball fan, she never missed a Golden State Warriors game and especially loved watching her favorite player, Steph Curry.
A memorial service will be held on August 22, 2025, at Cypress Lawn.
Her warmth, strength, and unwavering dedication to family will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
