Denise L Magathan

Denise’s life began on August 12, 1957, in Marion. She was the daughter of Jim and Earline (Perkins) Magathan. Denise graduated from Marion High School in the Class of 1975. She worked as an optician for Dr. Shank in Emporia, Duffin’s Optometry in Topeka and in Texas. Denise was a member of Valley United Methodist Church in Marion. As a young lady, she enjoyed playing softball and bowling with friends. Denise cared deeply about her friends and co-workers, remembering birthdays and always being a good friend. She is survived by her son Ryan (Nicole) Dvorak of Emporia, grandson Parker Dvorak, brothers Kerry (Kathleen) Magathan of Wichita, Monte Magathan of Marion, sister in law Rita Magathan of Arizona, aunts Shirley Nienstedt of Goddard, Mary Kluss of Nickerson and Irma Perkins of Louisiana, and several nieces and nephews. Denise passed away on Saturday October 19, 2024, at Wheat State Manor in Whitewater. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Jim Magathan, Jr. Denise’s family will gather with friends on Friday October 25. 2024 from 5-7 p.m. at Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Marion. Her graveside service will be held on Saturday October 26, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery, Florence. Memorial contributions in Denise’s name may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
