Daniel A. "Dan" Maskil, 88, died March 13, 2026, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born July 13, 1937, in Manhattan, KS, to Daniel Laken and Elsie May (Ashton) Maskil.

Dan graduated from Westmoreland High School in 1955. He served in the United States Army from 1959-1961. Dan was a salesman for Namee Wholesale Foods, a truck driver for Western Supply, a Production Supervisor for Dillons Warehouse and was on the paint crew for Kansas Department of Transportation. He was an avid K-State athletics fan and KU basketball fan. He was a member of American Legion Lysle Rischel Post #68 and Hutchinson Moose Lodge #982. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking and fishing at Marion and Kingman Lakes.

On September 7, 1958, Dan married the love of his life, Janet Pearl "Jan" Ellis, in Lyons, KS. She passed June 29, 2018. On June 1, 2019, he married Mildred "Millie" Bailey, in Hutchinson, KS. She survives.

Dan is survived by: wife; sons, Dave (Christy), Sterling, Rod, Nickerson, and Steve Maskil (Catrina), Hutchinson; grandchildren, Yasmine, Baylee, Camryn, Cienna and Carson Maskil, Mahali Engstrom and Mackenzie Bice; great-grandson, Brody Joranco; a niece; 4 nephews; and many other extended family members.

Dan was preceded in death by: parents; wife, Janet Maskil; sons, Mark and Rick Maskil.

Memorial service will be 2:00 pm, Friday, March 20, 2026, at Elliott Mortuary with Deacon Todd Ray presiding. The family will greet friends 30 minutes before the service. Friends may sign the book Tuesday thru Thursday 9 am until 5 pm.

Memorials are suggested to the Reno County 4-H for the Jan Maskil Scholarship, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main St, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
