Dennis Starr, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on August 24, 2024, at the age of 79, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, unwavering support for his family. Born on June 21, 1945, Dennis was a 1st language speaker and a proud veteran who served in the Army during his younger years, earning the Sharpshooter Badge and the National Defense Service Medal.
For years, Dennis dedicated himself to his career as a manager at Baldor Electric, but his true passion lay in his family. He was known for his warmth, wit, and infectious laughter. Dennis was always present at every function and sporting event his grandchildren participated in, serving as their biggest supporter and caretaker. His personality shone brightly, bringing joy to those around him with his humor and jovial spirit.
He is survived by his daughters, Sonya Starr and husband George Crittenden, and Denise Starr. He cherished his grandchildren, Dheidra Shell, Keaton Starr, and Dayci Starr, as well as his great-grandchildren, Case Shell and Quaid Handle. He also leaves behind his siblings: John Daugherty, Edward Daugherty and his wife Janna, Charles Daugherty, and Louise (Sissy) Gibson and her husband Gary. Additionally, he is remembered fondly by a host of other family and friends who were touched by his kindness and spirit.
Dennis was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Starr Jr., parents Blueford Starr and Janana (Doublehead) Daugherty, his grandparents Joe and Adeline (Bunch) Doublehead, and brothers Blueford Starr Jr. and Joe Daugherty.
His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, a testament to a life devoted to family and community. In celebrating Dennis's remarkable life, those who loved him are comforted in knowing that he has left an indelible mark on their lives. His laughter and love will echo through the generations, forever cherished and deeply missed.
