MR. DENNIS ERWIN ABBOTT, age 70, of 2226 Nellie Drive, Augusta, GA passed on Thursday, September 18th, 2025, at his residence. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later. Family members and friends may call at the funeral home. THOMSON FUNERAL SYSTEM, Thomson, GA oversees all arrangements.

"For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." (2 Timothy 4:6-8)

MR. DENNIS ERWIN ABBOTT was born on Tuesday, March 1, 1955, in Racine, WI to the late Luenett and Neal Abbott. Dennis made his heavenly transition from "labor to reward" on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at his residence surrounded by family members.

Dennis accepted Jesus the Christ into his life at an early age and joined the Little Macedonia Church of God in Christ of Racine, WI. Dennis enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he became a Rifleman. He obtained the rank of Lance Corporal. He transferred to the United States Army where he later earned the rank of SFC. He was a Paratrooper and became known as Dennis "Red Devil" Abbott. Dennis received numerous accolades during his years of service. He retired from the United States Army after 23 years, 3 months of faithful service. He later went to work for Ryder as a Maintenance Technician and retired after 17 years of dedicated service.

Dennis was a kind, loving and compassionate person with a bubbly personality. He always wore a smile on his face even when he was in pain. He had the biggest, caring heart and was always willing to help others. His kindness and sincerity will always be remembered by all. He will forever be remembered for his love, joy and laughter. Dennis is an all-around good guy that will truly be missed beyond measure.

In addition to his parents, our beloved Dennis Erwin Abbott is preceded in death by a sister, Luneal Johnson and a brother, Robert Abbott. He leaves to cherish his loving memories: a loving and devoted wife of 22.5 years, Virginia Abbott of Augusta, GA; a devoted daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Derrick Fields of Thomson, GA; three granddaughters, Adrianne (Paul) Ransom of Brunswick, GA, Ashley (Bruce, Jr.) Nimo of Augusta, GA and Bianca (Terrence) Parker of Thomson, GA; seven great-grandchildren, Zoey Ransom, Kason Ransom, Nolan Ransom, all of Brunswick, GA, Nadia Nimo, B.J.
