With heavy hearts, we share the news of Graydon Shawver Abbott's passing on February 9, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on May 12, 1940 in Fort Worth, Texas to Graydon Harlen Abbott and Rachel Patricia (Shawver) Abbott, Graydon lived a life that was vibrant and full of passion. He was a devoted family man who cherished every moment with his family.
Graydon was a true outdoorsman at heart, finding joy in drag racing and spending countless hours fishing. When he wasn't enjoying the thrill of the track or the tranquility of the water, you could find him playing his guitar, filling the air with music that brought smiles and comfort to those around him.
For 30 years, Graydon worked as a truck driver for Dairy Pack, where he made lifelong friends and shared many laughs on the road. His talents didn't stop there. Graydon was also an accomplished carpenter who built his own house from the ground up, a testament to his skill and determination.
A proud member of the First Baptist Church in Strawn, Graydon's faith was an integral part of his life. He loved supporting his community and was often seen cheering loudly at kids' sports events.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026 at the First Baptist Church in Strawn with Rev. Eric Nowak and Rev. Mike Orsini officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Marion Cemetery in Strawn. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Strawn.
