A celebration of life for Dennis D. Bolich, 76 of Ankeny, will be held on December 28, 2025, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the American Legion Hispanic Post 731. Memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later date. Edward and Louise Bolich were so happy to welcome their youngest child, Dennis Dean Bolich, into the world on October 26, 1949, in
Des Moines, Iowa. Dennis grew up in the Des Moines area and went to school at East High School, where he graduated with the class of 1967. High school is also where Dennis met the love of his life, Polly Mason. The two were high school sweethearts and wedded in 1970. They spent 55 wonderful years together watching their family grow. The same year Polly and Dennis got married, he was also enlisted into the Army National Guard. He was honorably discharged 6 years later. Before going to the national guard, Dennis' career had started at Kinney Shoe Co. where he was a store manager for several years in Des Moines. He later started working at Bridgestone Firestone, which is also where he retired at the age of 73 after 36 years of service. Dennis loved taking the time to travel to Canada to spend time fishing which was something that brought him peace and many memories through the years. He will always be remembered for showing up for his friends and family, there wasn't a time he didn't enjoy being with his grandkids and great grandkids and hardly ever missed one of their sporting events. Not only was Dennis a fan of all his grandkids and great grandkids, but he was also a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and enjoyed watching them on the big screen. A man of very few words, Dennis still always got his point across. One of the many things he taught his family was to always work hard for the things you want in life, which was something he led by example with. Dennis sadly passed away on December 15, 2025, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, surrounded by family. He is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Louise and his siblings, Rose Monahan and Gene Bolich. Dennis will be deeply missed by his wife of 55 years, Polly; their children: Tom Reed, Bill (Christie) Reed, Darrick Bolich; 8 grandchildren: Stevie, Christian, Ally, Austin, Dillan, Devan, Ceejay, Icey; 8 great grandkids with one on the way and many other extended friends and family.
