Dennis Boyer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brater-Winter Funeral Home (Harrison) on Feb. 14, 2026.
Dennis Leroy Boyer of Hidden Valley passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, at the age of 77. He was born on July 30, 1948, in Lansing, Michigan, to Elmer Grant and Lucille June Prince Boyer. Dennis distinguished himself not only as a successful entrepreneur but also as a loving husband, father, and friend, leaving a legacy of kindness, generosity, and an unwavering spirit.

A graduate of Ferris State University, Dennis began his remarkable journey toward entrepreneurship in his garage, where he founded Alternative Plastics, which later became INPLAS Recycling, a company dedicated to plastic recycling. With his partner, Rick Smith, through their vision and hard work, they transformed this small endeavor into a thriving business located in Greendale, Indiana, retiring in 2024 after selling the company. Dennis's ability to see the big picture and embrace possibilities was a hallmark of his success, traits that inspired those around him. On May 27, 1995, Dennis married Ginny, blending their families and creating a strong bond rooted in support and attention. Together, they forged a life filled with laughter, adventure, and friendship. Beyond his professional achievements, Dennis was passionate about life's simple pleasures. He found joy in the great outdoors, sharing his love of skiing, hunting, and fishing with his cherished wife, Virginia "Ginny" Boyer, though she often joked about her absent skiing genes. A talented cook, Dennis delighted in entertaining family and friends with extraordinary meals, always striving for excellence in the kitchen. His joyful spirit also extended to his love for travel, especially his treasured vacations to the Caribbean-Grand Cayman and Belize being among his favorites. Dennis was known for his gentle heart, which revealed itself even in his reluctance to adopt a dog. When Ginny brought home a Cane Corso named Annie, meant to be just a weekend stay, Dennis quickly embraced her as part of the family for the next 14 years, showing his softer side and his capacity for love and companionship. Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Virginia "Ginny" Boyer; his children, Jill and Renee Boyer; his bonus children, Kathleen (Michael) Paul, Steve (Angie) Braun, and Bill (Ashley Cook) Braun; cherished grandchildren, Conner (Ellie) Paul, Ellie (Logan Smith) Paul, Josh (Emily King) Braun, Meg-Ann (Travis) Belobrajdic, Lindsey (Lee) Emenhiser, and Nick (Rachel) Braun; and great-grandchildren, Elara "Duck," Theo, Blaze, and Iris Belobrajdic, Cora, Aida, and Kellan Emenhiser. He is also survived by his brother, Terry Boyer; He was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Boyer, and his in-laws, Albert and Michael Heister. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Barbara (Martin) Plage, Bob (Tag) Heister, and Marguerite (Gerry) Archer, along with many beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place at Brater Winter Funeral Home, located at 201 S. Vine Street,

Harrison, OH 45030, on February 20, 2026, from 4 PM until the time of service at 6 PM. A reception light refreshments will follow at Hidden Valley Lake Community Center – lower lever, located at 19303 Schmarr Drive Lawrenceburg, IN 47025. As we remember Dennis, let us celebrate a life well-lived, one filled with compassion, laughter, and an enduring love for family. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.

So sorry to hear this. I wish I got to know him better, but from what I learned from Ginny, I am sure he was a great man. My prayers are with you and your family.

I´m so very sorry to hear of Dennis´ passing. Dennis was a customer/supplier of mine over 10 years. I had the pleasure of talking to him on the phone 1000s of times and was able to visit the plant facility a few times getting to see him in person. He was so proud of what he and Rick built together as he should be. I have a lot of admiration and appreciation for him. We did a lot of business together, but also built a friendship along the way. We´d talk about family, fishing, and Michigan State basketball. Following his retirement, I´ve been fortunate enough to continue business and build a friendship with Rick along the way. The subject of Dennis has entered our conversations many times. My deepest sympathy and prayers to your family and to Rick and the InPlas family. I´ll be making a donation to Tunnel of Towers in his honor.

I've known Dennis and called him a friend for over 40 years, loved him like a brother. Loved to compare recipes with him and a great fishing buddy, had some fantastic times on the water. Solved many of the world's problems fishing for bluegills ay Hidden Valley. I appreciated his visits during my stay in the hospital this past year. I miss him terribly already. RIP buddy. Dave
