James Garrison Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brater-Winter Funeral Home (Harrison) on Feb. 10, 2026.
James W. Garrison Sr. of Harrison, Ohio, sadly left us on February 8, 2026, just a week after celebrating his 59th birthday. Born on February 1, 1967, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the beloved son of Aubrey Floyd and Naomi Louise (nee Courtney) Garrison. For over 30 years, James dedicated himself to JTM as a material handler, earning the affectionate title of the "Hallway Monitor," where he kept everyone in line with his good-natured humor and straightforward wisdom.

James was a simple man who valued relationships over material possessions. He had an endearing attachment to his rusted-out Ford Escape, and the day he said goodbye to it brought tears to his eyes. A self-proclaimed skeptic of modern technology, he often referred to cell phones as "drug dealing phones," voicing his conviction that they disconnected us from genuine conversations and connections with those we cherish.

Family meant everything to James. He found joy in the little things-fishing off the riverbank across from Gravelrama in Cleves, camping trips, and sharing a KFC dinner with his loving wife, Patricia "Pat" Garrison, every Friday night. His playful spirit and love for family were only matched by his fondness for the Pittsburgh Steelers. James cherished the company of his dog, Smokie, and he deeply loved his family, which included son James Jr. (Dakota), bonus daughter Jennifer (Joe) Tully, and cherished grandchildren Jaxxon & Naomi Garrison and Alyssa, Gabe & Owen Tully. He also leaves behind his brother, Dennis (Jalena) Garrison, sister-in-law Theresa Garrison, and a host of nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

James was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Tim and Zeke Garrison.

A visitation will be held at Brater Winter Funeral Home, located at 201 S. Vine St. in Harrison, on Saturday, February 14, 2026, from 2 PM until the service at 3 PM. Friends and family are invited to join together to celebrate Jim's life and share their favorite memories.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA or any animal shelter as a nod to James's love for animals.

James will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his honest perspectives on life, and his indomitable spirit.
