Dennis R Cooper, of Cicero, born January 19, 1950, passed away peacefully on January 5th, 2026, just 14 days shy of his 76th birthday. He is survived by his loving wife, Willette, daughters Jessica (husband, Ben) Fisher and Elyse Richards, grandchildren, Julia and Zane Deuberry, twin brother David (lsabel), nephews and nieces Thomas, Theresa, Monica and Jason, along with their families.
Dennis was a mechanic by trade and a gunsmith at heart. He was a long time President of the
Hamilton County Fish and Game Association, and a member of The Feeding Team in recent years. He was well known in the community and couldn't go anywhere without running into someone that knew him. He spent weekends at local gun shows, mostly Tipton, selling weapons from his collection and showing his handy work of refinishing wooden rifle stocks. And, the other weekends, teaching a Hunter Safety Ed course to new gun owners.
Dennis loved animals and they loved him. Before his illness, his loyal companion, Jazmin, would take him on three mile walks daily. When he visited his family's homes, their pets would gravitate towards him. The next thing you know, he would be covered in them. Grouchy dogs laying in his arms like babies and getting their bellies rubbed as he coddled them to sleep.
Dennis was a small but mighty man, especially with his words. He spoke his mind and had a larger than life sense of humor. Many will remember the crazy yet funny things he would say, like, "I'm glad you got to see me".
75 years doesn't seem like a long time on this Earth. But, he didn't count the minutes. Dennis made the minutes count for the many lives he touched.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, with services at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Freedom Church, 1361 Christian Avenue, Noblesville, IN 46060.
