Dennis Davis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lampe & Powers Funeral Home - Lake City on Jan. 5, 2026.
Dennis Davis, age 82, of Lake City, Iowa, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2025, at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City-the same city where he was born.

Dennis Dudley Davis was born on July 18, 1943, to Ralph and Irene (Trotter) Davis. He grew up in Lake City, attending local grade schools and graduating from Lake City High School with the Class of 1962.

After high school, Dennis proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Cold War era. He attained the rank of Specialist 4 (SP4) and earned special honors as a sharpshooter before being honorably discharged on July 21, 1964.

Following his military service, Dennis attended night school to earn his machinist degree. Over the years, he worked as a machinist at several companies, including Square D, Motorola, Sperry, and Bowie's.

Most people knew Dennis for his corny sense of humor and his genuine interest in others. He was known for asking about your family, telling jokes, and playing practical jokes. Dennis enjoyed watching cowboy movies and never missed an episode of Wheel of Fortune. He also liked going for drives and spending time out and about.

Over the years, Dennis made many wonderful friends who provided companionship and support, helping care for him when his family was not able to be there. His family is deeply thankful to all who loved him, spent time with him, and helped him along the way.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Cara Davis of Avondale, Arizona, and Marc Davis of Tucson, Arizona; grandchildren, Brittany Brahms (James Bishop) and Allie Brahms; and great-grandchild, Archer Bishop.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Darwin; and siblings LaDon VanHorn, Gary Davis, and Rickie Davis
