Walter Daszkowski, 78, of Ocean, formerly of Staten Island, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday surrounded by his loving family.
Walter was born and raised in Staten Island, New York. He graduated from St. Peter's Boys High School and received his associate's degree from St. John's University.
Walter served honorably in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he went on to enjoy a long and successful 35-year career, retiring as a transportation and logistics manager at Procter & Gamble. Following his retirement, he also worked with his beloved wife of 54 years, Jo-Ann, at her Staten Island-based tax preparation business, Rapid Tax.
Walter was deeply family-oriented and cherished spending quality time with his loved ones. The family took yearly vacations to The Bahamas and Lavallette, creating countless cherished memories. He also loved traveling with his beloved wife to Italy, Bermuda, Aruba, and they enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas, Mississippi and Florida.
Walter had a passion for boating, visiting Atlantic City and a hobby of breeding African cichlid fish, maintaining several tanks over the years.
He will be dearly missed.
Walter is predeceased by his parents, Walter Daszkowski and Pearl Daszkowski (née Heeney), and his brother Raymond Daszkowski.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Jo-Ann Daszkowski (née Maiorano); his sons, Walter L. Daszkowski and his wife Lauren, and Don M. Daszkowski and his wife Jody; his sisters, Diane Sullivan and Lynn Como; and his beloved grandchildren, DJ, Chace, Gabrielle, and Lucas.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 22 nd from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Rd, Holmdel NJ 07733. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, October 23 rd at 11:00 AM at St. Gabriel's RC Church, 100 N Main Street, Marlboro, NJ. Burial will follow at William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
