Dennis Marshall DeJesu, 83 years of age and resident of Lake Barrington, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 27, 2025.
He was born in Oyster Bay, New York, on June 7, 1942, to the late Nicholas and Josephine (nee Marshall) DeJesu. He went to St. Dominic’s Catholic School where he excelled in basketball and baseball. He graduated from Providence College in 1964.
A United States Army Veteran, Dennis served as a combat engineer in Vietnam, receiving a Bronze Star for his bravery and dedication. In 1965, he was united in marriage to Lauren Dwyer. The two enjoyed 60 beautiful years together.
Dennis worked in employee benefits and insurance sales starting first with Connecticut General Insurance Company and then Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. He retired from Gallagher in 2005. He was an avid tennis player, whose team advanced to the USTA National Finals. Dennis was a sports fanatic, enjoying college athletics and rooting for the Cubs, Giants, and Bears.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lauren (Dwyer) DeJesu; children Molly (Warren) Sandberg, Adrienne (Michael) O’Brien, and Peter (Patti) DeJesu; grandchildren Caroline and Meghan Sandberg, Katie and George O’Brien, and Emily and Jacob DeJesu; as well as other relatives and many friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Josephine DeJesu; sister Phyllis (Frank) Purcell; brother Ralph (Louise) DeJesu; and sister Betty (Mike) Danko.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, beginning at 9 a.m. until time of mass at 10:30 a.m., at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 120 Ela St., Barrington, IL 60010.
