Dennis Jay Dobbs

April 4, 1951 – October 12, 2025

Dennis Jay Dobbs, 74, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.

Dennis grew up in the automotive industry, learning valuable lifelong skills alongside his father. He was a perseverant, visionary, and driven man—innovative in his ideas and tenacious in every endeavor. His determination and work ethic became the foundation of the life he built and the legacy he leaves behind.

Dennis served as Vice President of Dobbs Tire & Auto from 1976 to 1996 before launching his own company, 55 Tires & Service, in 1997. As President through 2024, he built more than a successful business—he built relationships rooted in trust and service. Under his leadership, the company received multiple awards and gave back generously to the community through sponsorships and local support.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Terri; his children, Drew (Michelle) and Danielle; his four beloved grandchildren, Addie, Berkeley, Dominik, and Mila; and his sister, Sharon; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Sr. and Ethel, and his brother, Donald Jr., and son-in-law Michael Smalley.

When Dennis wasn’t hard at work, he loved spending time near the water—relaxing on the beach, boating around the lake, and taking in the calm that came with it. He was a proud fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues, and nothing brought him more joy than cheering on his grandchildren from the sidelines.

Dennis will be remembered for his drive and tenacity, which inspired everyone around him. His innovative spirit carried through in the way he cared for his family, his friends, and his work.

Though we mourn his passing, we find comfort in knowing he is with his Lord and Savior—free from pain and watching over those he loved so deeply.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice, or that Dennis be honored through simple acts of service and integrity in daily life.
