Dennis Wayne Evans, 61, of Terra Alta, WV, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Taylor Healthcare Center in Grafton, WV, with Chris by his side.
He was born on March 19, 1964, in Oakland, MD, the son of the late Ernest "Wayne" Evans and Nora (Opel) Evans.
Dennis grew up dedicated to farming. He passed his love of land and animals to his children. Dennis worked in construction for many years, but the job he was most proud of was substitute bus driving for Preston County Schools. He enjoyed hunting, volleyball, working with youth, and loved attending church. He was a member of the Crellin United Brethren Church in Crellin, MD and attended the Pleasant View Baptist Church in Oakland, MD. In the last several years, Dennis enjoyed playing BINGO, listening to music, and singing. He would often quote PS 100:1 "To make a joyful noise" to cover his inability to always carry a tune.
He is survived by his two sons, Jacob Wayne Evans and Josiah Foster Evans both of Terra Alta; one daughter, Malachia Rhea Evans of Nashville, TN; the mother of his children, Christina A. (Werdebaugh) Evans of Terra Alta; four sisters, Susan Evans of Corinth, Kimberly Stahl of Oakland, MD, Bonnie Evans of York, PA, and Kelley Evans of Bel Air, MD, and many nieces and nephews.
To honor his wishes, the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home in Terra Alta, WV, will provide professional and compassionate cremation services.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dennis' memory may be made to Taylor Healthcare Center c/o Activities Department, 2 Hospital Plaza, Grafton, WV 26354.
