Obituary of Dennis J. Fobar
July 12, 1941 – January 22, 2025
Dennis J. Fobar. Age 83 of Brownstown.
Beloved husband of Kathleen Fobar. Loving father of Dennis M. (Jami) Fobar, David (Jaime) Fobar and Donna (Phillip) Vallar. Dearest grandfather of Zachary (Brianna) Fobar, Danielle Fobar, Alyssa (Jacob) Jablonski, Alana Vallar, Nicole Fobar, Jessenia Shaya and Joey Shaya. Great grandfather of Ella Jablonski and Jackson Jablonski. Dear brother of Cindy (Dave) Renner. Preceded in death by grandson, the late Brian Fobar and daughter-in-law, the late Deborah Fobar.
Dennis J. Fobar grew up in River Rouge and attended Our Lady of Lourdes. He played high school football and basketball. While in high school he met the love of his life, Kathy Sheedy. Shortly thereafter they had a unique double-wedding ceremony with Kathy's sister Eileen and Jim Schrieber. They were married for 63 years.
Shortly after graduation, he worked at McCloud Steel while earning his undergraduate degree at night.
He later began his career at Chrysler while simultaneously earning his Master's degree. He and Kathy were blessed with three children, Dennis, Donna & David, and he enjoyed coaching the boys' football and hockey teams. Spending time with his 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren brought him so much joy and laughter. He loved to tease them.
He retired in 1998 as an executive at the corporate office in Troy, Michigan. They enjoyed 23 wonderful winters in Florida where they formed a special group of friends.
He spent many years as a member of The Knights of Columbus. He loved restoring old cars and participating in activities with his Corvette club. He enjoyed playing golf, volleyball, and pool in his billiards league.
There was not a person who met him that did not fall in love with him. He was such a genuine person and is dearly missed.
