Dennis Richard Gurry

Dennis Richard Gurry, 74, of Bushkill, PA, passed away on June 29th, 2024.
Born on July 14th, 1949, in Jersey City, NJ, to Richard and Catherine Gurry, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Dennis was a graduate of William L. Dickinson High School in Jersey City, New Jersey. He married his loving wife, Janice, in 1972 and together, raised four children. He began his career in the carpet and flooring industry as a young man. After managing several stores in New Jersey, he finally opened his own business. In 1985, at the age of 36, he opened American Carpet in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. Dennis continued running his business in multiple locations until his retirement nearly 30 years later.
Dennis's hobbies and interests helped define who he was. He enjoyed golfing throughout the Pocono Mountains, fishing in the local streams, and often spent the weekends tinkering in his garage. Dennis was known for his unapologetic, fun-loving nature and enjoyed making others smile. His sense of humor will be missed. A love for building, creating, and dreaming was something he shared with his children and grandchildren, leaving a mark on them that will never fade.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his wife, Janice; his sister, Corrine; his children, Deirdre, Erin and her husband, Robert, Colleen, Richard and his wife, Jessica; and his four grandchildren, Veronica, Vanessa, Lilly, and Violet.
A viewing and prayer service will be held on Monday, July 8th, at Bensing-Thomas Funeral Home, Stroudsburg, from 10 AM - 1 PM. Interment will follow at Sand Hill Cemetary, Bushkill.
The family finds comfort in knowing that Dennis's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught them, the love he shared, and the memories they will cherish forever.
