Dennis B. Hawkins

Dennis Boyd Hawkins, 70, Passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024, at HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital in Port Charlotte, Florida.
Dennis was born on September 12th, 1954, to the late Benjamin and Velma (Klassen) Hawkins in Detroit, Michigan. Dennis grew up in Detroit where he attended Notre Dame Preparatory High School. He went on to graduate from Western Michigan University with a bachelor's in business administration, majoring in Marketing and Accounting. He also completed 1 year of graduate study at Detroit Mercy College of Law. His intelligence and multitude of talents provided him with a diverse occupational background in areas of sales, insurance, accounting, management, and business ownership.
Dennis had a deep love for all genres of music, Detroit sports teams, and adventure. His passion for travel took him all over the world, including Bermuda, Ecuador, Egypt, the Caribbean, etc. He most recently enjoyed motorcycle cross-country trips to Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Louisiana and Nevada. His spontaneity landed him in Florida, where he built many friendships that turned into family. Dennis was never afraid to take a risk, and his quick-witted humor was adored by all. His selflessness was palpable; you knew he would be there when you needed him, even if it meant putting his own needs aside.
Dennis was welcomed into Heaven by his mother and father. Left to treasure his memory are his two children, Samantha and Cameron Hawkins and their mother Casey, sisters Susan Columbus and Sandy Kolar, and nieces and nephews Mark, Chase, and Kelly.
His laugh and free spirit will be missed by so many in Michigan, Florida, Texas and elsewhere. "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:18
