Dennis John Heuring
Dennis John Heuring, son of the late Charles John Heuring and Lucille (Westrich) Heuring, was born on February 1, 1962, and passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026, peacefully, surrounded by family at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at the age of 63 years.
Dennis was a lifelong member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg, MO. He was born as a very special child of God. Raised on the family farm outside of New Hamburg with his 5 siblings, he quickly developed a witty sense of humor, learned to share in the chores, and the love for Jesus. Dennis was known for the best warm hugs, never meeting a stranger, a smile that would light up any room, and his love for sports, bowling, music, dancing, and eating.
Dennis’s employment career was with the VIP Industries in Cape, beginning in July of 1983. Dennis was a special individual who had the innate ability to make the world a better place, always a cheerful person. Upon the death of his parents, Dennis moved into the VIP’s group home in Cape where he lived and flourished with his friends. He had wonderful times there, going to work each day, bowling and line dancing in the evenings, attending Cardinal ballgames, trips to the lake, and vacations with his house mates. He also loved spending the weekends, when his busy schedule allowed, with his siblings. Dennis was truly blessed. You never know the impact one person can have on so many, but Dennis did just that.
Dennis is survived by one sister, Dorothy (Terry) Deason of New Hamburg, MO; two brothers, Charles (Lisa) Heuring of Omaha, NE; Larry (Angela) Heuring of Kelso, MO; one sister-in-law, Keli Heuring of Buena Vista, TN; 15 nieces and nephews, and many great-nieces, nephews and cousins.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Norman Heuring, Sr. and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Heuring; another brother, Gerald (Jerry) Heuring; and one nephew, Christopher Gerald Heuring.
Visitation will be held at the St. Lawrence Parish Center in New Hamburg, MO, on Monday, February 2, 2026, from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM, with a prayer service at 5:00 PM. Eucharistic Celebration will be conducted on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 10:00 AM in St. Lawrence Catholic Church with the Rev. Daniel Belken officiating along with Monsignor Normand Varone. Interment will follow in the St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery in New Hamburg.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Cape VIP and Regency for the many years of guidance, love, and good times for Dennis. Also, a huge thank you to the medical staff of St. Francis Medical Center, in Cape, for their excellent care, kindness, and compassion for Dennis and his family in Dennis’s last days.
