Dennis Royce Hudson

Dennis Royce Hudson, 76, of Decatur left Earth for his Heavenly home on Monday, July 14th, 2025.

Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 18th at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur with burial at Paradise Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Louis Horton will officiate. Pallbearers will include Buba Hudson, Adrian Stone, Wes Fowler, Weldon Taylor, Kyle Stephens, Will Gage, Mark Ary and Asa Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers include Tommy Edwards, Tony Rogers, CL Gage, Charles Hudson, Don Singleton, Austin Bowles, Dan Harvey, and Johnny Coker.

Dennis was born August 7th, 1948 to Royce Cecil “Son” and Sarah Geneva (Read) Hudson in Decatur, Texas. He was united in marriage August 7th, 2003 to Laura Lynn Cathey in Decatur, Texas. Dennis owned and operated Hudson Fina Station, an icon of Decatur, for over 44 years. He retired in 2012 and also served as Pct 1 Constable in Wise County for 24 years. He was past president for Wise County Sheriff’s Posse. Dennis proudly served our country in the Army National Guard. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Son and Geneva Hudson, and his brother, Jimmie Hudson.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Laura Hudson of Decatur; his daughters, Marsha Gay Hafer and husband Justin of Argyle, Sherry Lynn Shelton of Ft. Worth, and Ashleigh Renee Berg and husband Rusty of Decatur; 8 grandchildren, Sandon, Kreid, Colby, Stockton, Dayne, Kennedy, Boden, and Chase; his brother, Gary Hudson and wife Darlene of Briar; his sisters, Linda Hollis and husband Kenneth of North Richland Hills, and Joyce Horton and husband Louis of Decatur; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, many other family members, and a host of friends.
