Dennis Julius Hudson

On January 12, 1951, in Gulfport, MS, an angel was born to Ethel Mae and Willie Hutson. That angel's name is Dennis Hudson. He grew up on Baker Street. He was the third youngest out of eight siblings. He was a good child. A carefree, spontaneous, and compassionate kid.

He attended 33rd Avenue School and Gulfport East High School where he made many friends and created unbreakable bonds. During his high school years, he was an amazing head drummer for the band. Using his gifted skills, he would continue to play the drums with his group members at Baker Street. They were known as the "Baker Players" and "Hair".

After graduating, he enrolled into the Army. After his honorable discharge of service, he would travel many miles viewing different parts of the world as a truck driver. While doing so, he met his ex-wife, Helen Hudson, and had four kids, Chalmers J. Hudson, Cameron Whitfield, Travis Anderson, and Dennis Devere Hudson.

After expanding his legacy, he finally settled down back to where he originated from- Baker Street. This is where he began to use his crafty hands and became one of the most well known mechanics. He was the best of the best. He could listen to a car run and tell you what was wrong with it. He was dependable and reliable. He was always there when you needed him. His impact on the Baker Street and Handsboro Community will forever be great. His sudden departure will deeply sadden these communities. He was one of a kind. A very special spirit.

Dennis was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Mae Hutson (Gulfport, MS); his father, Willie Hutson (Gulfport, MS); his brother, Billy Hutson (Biloxi, MS), and his sisters, Betty Joe Hutson (Gulfport, MS) and Priscillia Hutson (Gulfport, MS).

Dennis leaves all his cherished memories to his ex-wife, Helen Hudson (Texas); four sons, Chalmers J. Hudson, Cameron Whitfield, Dennis Devere Hudson (all of Texas), and Travis Anderson (Michigan); four brothers, Willie Hutson Jr., Mitchell Hutson, Steve Hutson, and Tyrone Hudson (all of Gulfport, MS). In addition to five grandchildren and two great grandchildren, he leaves many other family members and friends who will deeply miss him. He will forever be in our hearts.
