Dennis Edward Johnson, Sr., born on December 21, 1946, in Osage, West Virginia, passed away on March 14, 2026, in Morgantown, West Virginia. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, achieving the rank of E-6. Following his military service, Dennis enjoyed a successful career as a Master Electrician, dedicating many years to Chemtura in the chemical sector.
Dennis is survived by his loving spouse, Linda Johnson, and his two sons, Aaron Johnson and Dennis Johnson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Marvin "Brownie" Brown, Kathy and Bob Tokarcik. He found joy in his hobbies, notably coin collecting, which sparked countless hours of fascination and discovery. An avid reader, he cherished the worlds and ideas found within the pages of books, often sharing his insights with family and friends.
Throughout his life, Dennis was known for his warm spirit and dedication to family. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Eleanor Johnson; an infant sister, Maryann Johnson; brother, Charles "Chuck" Johnson; sister-in-law, Margaret "Cathy" Johnson; and sister, Shirley Smith.
Family and friends will gather at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, 10 S. High Street, Morgantown, WV 26501, on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, from 5 PM until 7 PM. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, March 18, at the Fred L. Jenkins Chapel of Prayer. Private interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
