Dennis King Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Worthington Funeral Home - Chadbourn on Mar. 13, 2026.
Dennis James King, 76, of Monroe, NC, was called home by our Heavenly Father and welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, March 12, 2026.

James was born on October 31, 1949, in the back bedroom of his parents' home, by the railroad tracks in Monroe, NC. He was the son of the late Luther and Gladys King. In addition, he is preceded in death by his brother, David, Ronald, and Steve King.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Palmyra Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the Formyduval Cemetery in Nakina.

The surviving family includes his daughters, Renee Munives, Brenda Griffin, Crystal Sterling, and Denise Plott; grandchildren, Natalia Villamil, Lily Munives, Benefird Sydney Fredrick, Gabrielle Diggs, and several great-grandchildren, and special friends, Andrew Smith and Juan Minoz.

James was a Civil War reenactor for several years, which he loved dearly. He was also an evangelist, had a captain license, a master carpenter, and mechanic; there wasn't anything he could not fix. James loved fishing, hunting, and shooting his guns. He was a good ole boy- country to the core and was proud to be southern. He loved building things, such as bottle rockets, cigar box guitars, and basically anything he set his mind to.

My daddy was a light to this world. Every chance he had, he was telling someone about Jesus. He never met a stranger- he loved to just talk, loved his family and special friend, Booty. He was kind, caring, and compassionate for all. James' favorite phrase was "Mercy, mercy, mercy, mercy is for everyone!"

He found his home in Heaven when Jesus called him. I know that he is walking in Heaven with Jesus, where there he will never suffer and he will always be happy. He has received his Heavenly body and has reunited with his momma, daddy, grandparents, and the rest of his family that he loved so much. The loss of his presence will env er be filled in my heart. We fussed but he was my best friend, my Daddy.

I love you Daddy and will never stop thinking of you.

Until we meet again,

Love, Renee.
