Dennis William Kuseske, age 78, of Kimball, died unexpectedly of natural causes while deer hunting on Saturday, November 15, 2025.

Born on April 5, 1947, at St. Cloud Hospital to William and Alma Kuseske, Dennis grew up with a deep appreciation for family, faith, and the land. He was confirmed at Fairhaven Lutheran Church and graduated from Kimball High School in 1965. His passion for learning led him to North Dakota State University, where he earned a master's degree in microbiology in 1971.
His greatest adventure began when he met his beloved wife, Gretchen, in college. They married on August 17, 1968, and together built a life rooted in love and partnership. In 1971, they settled in Kimball on the family farm, where Dennis poured his heart and soul into the land for 55 years. Farming was more than a livelihood for him, it was his calling, a testament to his unwavering work ethic, resilience, and devotion. Through seasons of challenge and abundance, Dennis cultivated not just crops, but a legacy of integrity and care that will live on for generations.
Dennis and Gretchen's home is filled with laughter, warmth, and the joyful chaos of raising six adopted children: Alissa, Jebediah, Adam, Zachary, Amanda, and Taylor. He cherished every moment spent at the family cabin in Hackensack, hunting, ice fishing, woodworking (making many pieces of furniture in their home and cabin), restoring old gas pumps, and traveling the world. Above all, He was devoted to his family, friends and the land he loved. His legacy lives on in his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his quick wit, generous spirit, and the boundless love he gave as a father, husband, and friend.
One of his most cherished adventures was the day he fulfilled a lifelong dream of harvesting a moose. A great joy for Dennis came from sharing these adventures with his children. From elk hunting out west to the tradition of the annual deer opener on his own farmland. These moments, filled with laughter, stories, and the quiet beauty of the outdoors, are treasured memories that will live on in the hearts of his family.
He is survived by his wife, Gretchen; children Alissa (Matt) Keil of St. Joseph, Jebediah (Minna Fongthavisay) of Ham Lake, Adam (Katy) of Kimball, Zachary (Rachel) of Rogers, Amanda (David) Konnight of St. Cloud, and Taylor (Annie) of Cottage Grove. Grandchildren: Tanner Kuseske; Benjamin, Abby, and Lincoln Keil; Hendrix and Peyton Kuseske; Gabrielle, Hailey, and Tahlia Kuseske; Aliyah Kuseske, Adrian, and Nadia Konnight; Reagan and Serena Kuseske; his sister Bonnie (David) MacLean of Mankato; and brother-in-law Glen Williams of Fargo. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Alma Kuseske; his sister, Nadine Williams; and his in-laws, George and Dolores Bahr.
